NOTE: As with all studies, use what study tools you can to rightly divide the Word. Be a Berean, & recognize that sometimes folks will disagree on what they think they see or know in the Scriptures. Use history. Use context. Use research. Answer the question Jesus asked the scholars of His day--"How do you read it?" Don't just take someone else's teaching as the final truth. Read the Word for yourself, pray for wisdom from above, & study to show yourself approved. editor
Only A Branch (John 15) Elder Phil Justice 2 June 2019 message notes
Have you ever considered just how vines grow? Or how trees are grafted? Jesus often used the natural things of the world which His audience understood, or at least with which they were familiar, to teach on things of the principles of the Lord. Using such pictures make God's Word more clear to those who want to know more about Him. In this message Elder Phil is delving into John 15 and looking to the natural to explain the spiritual in his message, "Only A Branch".
More like you and less like us…. You can hear the prayers of the saints over the years calling on the Lord to cleanse and repair their souls, minds, attitudes, and behaviors from what they were to what they should be. We are the inheritors of that legacy, and when we cry out in hope and pain as we see ourselves in the mirror of His face, we should also know that we are reaching not only to a Holy God and the Judge of all the earth but a Friend Who sticks closer than a brother, a Friend that desires and calls for us to meet Him daily and face to face. According to Genesis 1:26, God initiated fellowship with us. He made us in His image and personally intervenes, leads, and directs on our behalf; He shows us continuously that He made us for a relationship with Him. What should be our response? Listen as Pastor Billy describes what it is to be “A Real Friend.”
